ScanSource, Inc. is a Greenville, SC, -based wholesale distributor of specialty technology products including point-of-sale and barcoding systems, IP telecom systems, teleconference systems, and IP video surveillance systems. ScanSource has four North American business units and five international business units. Business unit verticals include: ScanSource POS/Barcoding, Catalyst Telecom and ScanSource Communications, and ScanScource Security Distribution.

As a value-added distributor, ScanSource buys products from manufacturers and vendors and sells them to reseller customers who, in-turn, sell those products to end users. ScanSource’s value to both manufacturers and resellers is in taking on the inventory consolidation and management, warehousing, logistics, financing, pre- and post-sale tech support, and customer service.

ScanSource developed a centralized online marketplace that streamlines business by bringing their vast network of business partners together called Sumo Partners. I lead the development of the strategy, requirements and UX for the second generation of the Sumo Partners platform. My team built a robust search and tagging  system that fosters interaction and facilitates new business opportunities between business, consumers, and ScanSource technology providers. It includes full reporting capabilities so that ScanSource can quantify the ROI of their own investment as well as the participation of each member provider.
